Pessimistic Purple Robot

My latest creation "Pessimistic Purple Robots", these fun guys have a zipper mouth, perfect for hiding things. I made one for the boy down the street turning 2, and the other was a made-to-order for a friend/client. Aren't they fun!

1989 - My Oscar

In 1989 I won an Oscar, o.k. it was a Lafayette High School Oscar, but still! I won it for my first performance in a play. It was my junior year and I did not make the soccer team which I had been playing since I was in first grade up until freshman year. When I did not make the varsity team I was so crushed! My Mom encouraged me to try another school activity so I join the set crew for the play. They still needed to fill a part and somehow they talked me into it. The play was "The Ugly Duckling" and I played the part of the ditzy, beautiful princess.  I remember all the fun practicing for the play, making the costumes and I remember the night of the play... my friends and family telling me they were surprised at how well I did.

Later that year the school has it's Oscar night and surprisingly I won best supporting actress, I was shocked! Sadly my acting career was short lived, I tried out the next year for a part in A Midsummer's Night's Dream, but got cast as a woodland fairy, no speaking. I think I was so nervous trying out that I blew it! That was my last acting roll. Now I hate to speak in large groups and I get very nervous over anything that puts me in the spot light. Oh the irony!

Cookies Anyone?

My neighbor had a toy cookie tray made by Melissa & Doug that both my girls loved playing with. So for Valentine's day I made my own version as a gift for the girls. Cost: under $4 (the cost of the cookie pan, I already had the felt, etc.) I put thin magnets on the bottom so they would not slide off the tray. The girls love it!

Of course when I went to take a photo we are already missing the pink sprinkle cookie, I know it's somewhere in the house! I guess I need to make some back-up cookies.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentines Day, we spend the Saturday as usual. Brian took Anna to swimming, Amelia was getting over a fever so she stayed home with me and watched a movie. Brian picked up some yummy food for dinner and we made a fire in the fireplace then played board games with the girls. It was a perfect low key evening with lots of loving family time. I love my family!

Valentine craft... I made these for a few friends and family. Just cut out heart shapes out of paper and sew together with a sewing machine. It makes such a sweet delicate valentine, I mailed them a week early so they could hang them up for decoration. This would work for so many things, clovers for St. Pats, flowers for spring, eggs for easter, etc.

I heart you skirt

Here is my latest project just in time for valentines day. I made these cute skirts for the girls, thanks to this free pattern. It was so quick, easy and with one yard I can make two skirts! I already bought more fabric to make two more. The girls loved them, Anna told me she was a princess wearing hers.
