Kickball - Peglegs

Brian & I play kickball on his work team. It is fun and very laid back, usually there are enough girls and guys that we all take turns playing. Last week was exciting because I caught a fly ball. Usually in the outfield the guys take over and catch the balls, but it came to me, no guys around... gulp... I guess I have to catch it... and I did!!! I was so excited I jumped up and down and my team laughed.

This week we were short a girl, so I had to play the whole game. I even pitched which I had never done before, it was really fun and I think I did a pretty good job, but gosh you have to really pay attention! Three times the ball came whizzing back to me, twice I caught it! Brian later told me, one guy compared me to Willie Mays, niccccce! By the end of the game I was worn out from pitching, running and the adrenalin of REALLY playing.

First day of School

backpacks... check
notebooks... check
cute clothes... check
hair cuts... check

Yes, it's the first day back to school!!!!

After I dropped them off, I came home by myself and thought, now what! A thousand things I need/want to do raced through my head, so many options I can't decide. And with only 3 hours, I have to make it good... or maybe a nap? I guess I'll start with a load of laundry and get some design lab work done.

Amelia's Art - no.1

Amelia loves to draw, color and do any kind of art projects, and I am fascinated in watching the progression of her talents. She went from scribbles, to circles with arms, and now to bodies, clothes and shoes. Above is a drawing she did yesterday of me (note the curly hair and stick legs) and Amelia playing in the sprinkler. She gave me a lovely "rainbow dress". Maybe she she got this talent from Brian or me, either way I have a stack of original art a mile high and I am having a hard time getting rid of any of them!

Back to School

Today we took the girls to meet their new teachers for preschool. Amelia went to preschool last year so this was all old hat for her. But my Baby... Anna is going now and it makes me a bit sad, my baby is growing up! These years are flying by!

This morning at breakfast as we talked about school and Amelia said this to Anna.

AMELIA:
Hey Anna you are going to my school today. Don't worry, I'll take care of you there.

Oooooohhhhh, it was the sweetest thing, it made my heart smile! I hope they will always look out for one another.

Halloween Project

My latest up-cycled creation is a series of original, collage fabric art pieces starting "Gus" from the book "Gus was a friendly ghost" by Jane Thayer. This was an old family book that was very loved by my girls, loved to death that is! After fixing the book several times, it was time to put it to rest, pages were missing, it was unfixable. But, I also loved this book and it's very sweet illustrations, so I thought about it and this is what I came up with. I made 8 fabric collages and will sell a few in my etsy shop, saving a few for me... or all 8 if they don't sell.

Frederick the mouse

So, my girls loooooooove to do projects, almost everyday Amelia asks me what project can we do. The other week we made these mouse puppets based on the book "Frederick" by Leo Lionni. We painted, glued, strung a tail and taped it to sticks, they had so much fun!  After he was done we did a puppet show while I read the book.
I found this great blog that has wonderful kid projects, and I got this idea from her. If you need some fun different ideas visit her blog: No time for flash cards

My First Blog

Well, here I am, finally blogging. Not sure if I will be able to keep it up, but let's give it a try.

I have been addicted to a website called etsy.com. I sell a few items on there for fun and love to look around and see what everyone is doing, it always inspires me. But lately I spend more time looking than doing.
